Warriors, Klay Thompson: “38 points? I missed 3 free throws…”
Satisfied with the Golden State Warriors’ victory over the Phoenix Suns, Thompson also comments with a bit of irony on his performance
The Chase Center jumps to its feet as Stephen Curry hits the corner three for a 123-106 lead. Game over, once and for all, as the Golden State Warriors manage to pull away from the Phoenix Suns for good with 3 minutes left without giving them a chance to come back.
Curry finishes with 23 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists. Klay Thompson adds 38 points to his tally, with 14/23 shooting from the field and 8/14 from three-point range, confirming his constant improvement over the last week.
When I get into rhythm, I always try to take the best possible shots. But I missed 3 free throws, I’ll think about it for a while
Klay Thompson
Klay Thompson commented post-game, with a touch of irony for a player used to shooting 90% from the free-throw line (104 out of 116 in 56 regular-season games).
Imagine instead playing a quarter – the third – without scoring a single point after scoring 33 in the first 24 minutes of play.
I would like to score 30 points in each quarter, but I am very satisfied with the victory. We almost let the game slip away, but we were able to respond with aggressive defense. But missing those free throws is not like me
Klay Thompson
Golden State closes the gap to just one and a half games behind Phoenix, the fourth force in the Western Conference, and Klay enjoys the victory with a touch of lightheartedness.
