Mavs, Doncic: “Defense is now our weak point

The Mavs are coming off of three consecutive losses and have played their last two games without their two stars, Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving. Now, Dallas finds themselves in a heated battle for the postseason, currently sitting in the eighth spot in the Western Conference with a record of 34 wins and 35 losses, and even worse after the trade of Irving.

Luka Doncic recently analyzed the difficulties that the Mavs are facing after making it to the Conference Finals just a year ago:

I think offensively we’re really good. But defensively we need to have better communication, do everything better. That’s our weak point right now

The arrival of a talent like Kyrie Irving on offense makes everything easier, but losing solid defenders in the trade who were functional to Jason Kidd’s game plan seems to have worsened the team, and now the postseason is no longer a sure thing.
