The all-time NBA record for assists belongs to John Stockton who he distributed 15,806 assists to his teammates, with an average of 10.5 assists per game and a personal best of 28 assists in a game set in 1991.
Stockton is a legend in the Utah Jazz history and one of the best point guards of all time who had the perfect attacking terminal in Karl Malone. Unfortunately Stockton never managed to win an NBA title despite the 5 Conference Finals and 2 Finals where the Jazz had to bow to Michael Jordan.

The player with the most assists in an NBA game is Scott Skiles, who scored 30 assists in the game Orlando Magic-Denver Nuggets in 1990, which ended 155-116. Here the complete list.
Most Assists Per Game
Magic Johnson holds the NBA record for average assists with 11.19 assists per game. Immediately after him there are John Stockton (10.51 assists per game) and Oscar Robertson (9.51 assists per game) also the leader for all-time triple-doubles.
Chris Paul stands out among the active players. He holds the 4th place of the list with 9.43 assists per game.
