NBA Highest-Scoring Record

The highest score was recorded on December 13, 1983, in the game between Denver Nuggets and Detroit Pistons, ended with the score of 184 to 186. The teams combined to score 370 points after 3 OT.

The two franchises broke other records:

  • the only NBA match with 4 players who scored 40 points at least (Isiah Thomas and John Long for the Pistons; Kiki Vandeweghe and Alex English for the Nuggets);
  • record of points scored by a team (Detroit Pistons’ 186);
  • record of points scored by the losing team (Denver Nuggets’ 184);
  • more tempted shots and assists, combining the two franchises statistics;
  • more tempted shots by a single team.

NBA Playoff Highest-Scoring Record

The NBA Playoff highest-scoring match was played on May 11, 1992 between Portland and Phoenix and ended with the score of 151 to 153.

It was Game 4 of their Western Conference Semifinal Round series and is only charted at No. 20 of the All-Time highest-scoring matches.
