NBA Fantasy Captain Picks
Are you unsure who to make captain for the Dunkest round? Here are our tips, one for each turn.
Centers
Ivica Zubac (Los Angeles Clippers, 17.4 cr)
The Croatian center has been one of the revelations of the season, proving himself to be a consistent and reliable player, capable of recording double-doubles with few shooting errors. The match against the Spurs is crucial for the Clippers’ position in the standings, and in their last meeting, Ivica posted a performance of 21 points and 22 rebounds for 48 PDK!
Rudy Gobert (Minnesota Timberwolves, 15.3 cr)
Gobert had a rather disappointing season, definitely below his previous one, but in the last few weeks, he has raised his performance in view of the final stretch of the regular season. The French center posted over 40 PDK in four of the last five games, with the highlight being 59 PDK against the Sixers. The match against the Milwaukee Bucks could allow him to continue his strong run.
Forwards
Evan Mobley (Cleveland Cavaliers, 16.7 cr)
The big man for the Cleveland Cavaliers has been one of the keys to the team’s excellent season in Ohio, and one of the candidates for the Most Improved Player award, given the offensive progress he’s shown this year. Even though the Cavs are already certain of the first spot in the East, Mobley hasn’t lowered his performance, and in the previous matchup against the Kings, he posted a double-double with 31 points and 10 rebounds.
Paolo Banchero (Orlando Magic, 15.4 cr)
Paolo Banchero is the undisputed leader of the Orlando Magic and must guide them to the best possible position in the Play-In for an easier path to the postseason. The game against the Atlanta Hawks is essentially a playoff-style match for the seventh spot, and the 2023 ROY will need to give his all to secure the win.
Guards
Anthony Edwards (Minnesota Timberwolves, 15.8 cr)
Anthony Edwards has had an up-and-down season, much like his Minnesota Timberwolves, but now is the right moment to secure a spot in the postseason, ideally avoiding the ever-dangerous Play-In. The Georgia product comes off three performances of over 40 PDK and can continue his strong run against the Milwaukee Bucks.
Jalen Brunson (New York Knicks, 14.8 cr)
The leader of the New York Knicks is ready to return to the court after the ankle injury that forced him to miss the last 14 games. Brunson will face a desperate Phoenix Suns team, with their last chances to salvage a disastrous season, but they continue to struggle defensively, as shown by the second-worst defensive rating in the league over the last 10 games. The only previous matchup this season, though dating back to November, saw him put up 51 PDK!
Coach
Tyronn Lue (Los Angeles Clippers, 9 cr)
The Los Angeles Clippers, currently seventh in the West, are looking to avoid the Play-In at all costs by climbing to the sixth spot, currently held by the Minnesota Timberwolves. Tyronn Lue’s team faces the San Antonio Spurs, who, after injuries to Victor Wembanyama and De’Aaron Fox, have nothing left to fight for this season.
Quin Snyder (Atlanta Hawks, 4.8 cr)
The Atlanta Hawks are in a fierce battle to secure the best possible position heading into the Play-In, and after their loss to the New York Knicks, they cannot afford any more missteps against the Utah Jazz, who are at the bottom of the Western Conference and come off 11 consecutive losses.
