How to Play Dunkest NBA Fantasy Basketball
A guide to quickly learn how to play Dunkest Fantasy Basketball. How to play, all the main rules and strategies
Dunkest is the coolest NBA Fantasy, a game that entertains thousands of fantasy coaches every season.
What is Dunkest
Born in 2013, Dunkest has rapidly won the affection of all basketball fans. Today it counts more than 200.000 fantasy coaches that use it in two game modes:
- Fantasy mode: 95 credits to choose 10 players. Fantasy teams have non-exclusive rosters, meaning that each player can belong to multiple fantasy coaches.
- Draft mode: private leagues with exclusive rosters, where each player can simultaneously belong to only one team (read our guide How to Play Draft Mode).
With this guide we explain how to play Dunkest Fantasy Mode and unveil some basic and advanced strategies.
How to Play the Fantasy Mode
1. Creating a fantasy team
With your Dunkest account you can create up to 5 fantasy teams. Each fantasy team has 95 credits to purchase 10 players and 1 head coach:
In the Fantasy Mode, rosters are non-exclusive: other fantasy coaches may have the same basketball players as you, but they cannot see your team until the championship or each new Matchday starts.
Once created, your fantasy team will automatically be entered into 3 Main Leagues:
- General: against all fantasy coaches
- Country: against all fantasy coaches belonging to the same country
- Favorite team: against all fantasy coaches cheering for the same team
When the championship starts, your fantasy team will get a score based on the stats scored by your players in the real games (points, assists, blocks, rebounds, etc.). With this score you will challenge the other users of the game.
2. Can I challenge my friends?
Of course, with the Fantasy Mode you can create or join Private Leagues (accessible only by invitation code) or Public leagues (open to all), which can be of two types:
- Classic scoring: teams are ranked based on their total points in each Matchday
- Head-to-head: every team plays a match against another team in the league each Matchday. The team that scores more, wins.
4. How is the scoring composed?
There are many stats that make up the players score. Each statistic is assigned a point value (ex: one assist returns +1.5pts).
Some of the main actions that contribute to the score: points, assists, rebounds, blocks, turnovers, and more. Read all the Scoring System details.
5. Coach, Captain and Bench
Other special features of the game are:
- Coach: also coaches get points based on their teams’ performances
- Captain: among the players on the field, you have to choose a Captain, who multiply his score x1,5 every matchday.
- Bench: the players you leave on the bench at the end of the Matchday get 50% of their scores
- Sixth Man: the player you choose as the 6th Man get 100% of his score
6. Managing your team
When the first Matchday of the championship starts, the Fantasy Basketball season also begins and from this moment you can intervene on the team to improve it in different ways.
Each Matchday is divided into Game Rounds, or single days in which blocks of games are played.
Example: Turn 1 (T1) groups all games played on Friday, T2 all games played on Saturday, T3 all games played on Sunday.
Between Rounds and between Matchdays, you can change your team:
- Field-bench substitutions: between 2 turns, you can make field-bench substitutions by entering players who have not yet played in place of players whose score has not satisfied you.
- Trades: between one Matchday and the next, you can make trades by selling your players, recovering their value in credits and buying new ones. Each trande will cost you a small penalty on the next Matchday score.
