LeBron James, just hours after Bronny James signed, decided to renew his contract with the Los Angeles Lakers. According to sources reported by The Athletic and ESPN, James has agreed to a two-year maximum deal worth $104 million to stay with the Los Angeles team.

The deal, which represents one of the most significant pieces of news in the basketball world, includes a Player Option for the 2025/26 season and a “no trade” clause. This means that LeBron will have the option to decide whether to stay with the Lakers for the full duration of the contract and cannot be traded to another team without his consent.

According to ESPN, there is still a discussion ongoing about the possibility of James accepting a compensation around $1 million below the maximum allowed. This would enable the Lakers to stay below the second salary cap apron and maintain greater flexibility in roster building.

Such a decision could prove crucial for the team’s future, allowing the Lakers to better manage the salary cap and have more leeway to further strengthen the roster. LeBron James, who already led the Lakers to win the NBA title in 2020, thus continues his mission to bring the team back to the top of the basketball world.
